Transformers: The Movie
Will Transformers: The Movie be a great movie, or will it become one of the Great Movie Tragedies alongside Plan 9 from Outer Space, Battlefield Earth and New York Minute? The TV show and animated movie (released back in 1986) are highly-revered in sci-fi circles, and one can only hope that director Michael Bay doesn’t completely destroy the integrity of the Robots in Disguise.
One thing is for certain at this time: Optimus Prime is still an icon in the digital age. Red Freightliner semi-trailer trucks will forever be cool because of him (it?). Sure, compared to his leaner, animated self his new incarnation is a shiny red CG building with wheels–but what’s wrong with that?
As they say, “More than meets the eye.”
